Champions of the piano trio genre, the highly acclaimed Fidelio Trio, are back in South Africa to entertain audiences with their prowess as a trio.

In August and September South African fine music followers can look forward to the ‘virtuosic’ (Sunday Times, UK) Fidelio Trio, comprising violinist Darragh Morgan and pianist Mary Dullea from Ireland, and Israeli-born cellist Adi Tal.  Shortlisted for the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards, the Fidelio Trio are champions of the piano trio genre, and perform the widest possible repertoire on international concert stages and in radio and TV studios across the world. Their highly acclaimed discography includes the recent release of Ravel and Saint-Saëns Trios as Gramophone Magazine Critic’s Choice; they are also known for several commissions and first performances.

Since their debut at London’s Southbank Centre, they have appeared at the Wigmore Hall and Kings Place, at festivals throughout the UK and on stages in Shanghai, Porto, Paris, Venice, Florence, Johannesburg, New York City, Princeton, San Francisco and Boston.

They make regular appearances across the Irish Sea at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, the Kilkenny Festival and the Belfast Festival at Queens. They enjoy collaborating with other inspirational musicians and are Artistic Directors of their annual Winter Chamber Music Festival at Belvedere House, Dublin City University, where they have been artists-in-residence.

In continuing their advocacy of the piano trio globally, The Fidelio Trio work closely with international students, as well as composers Toshio Hosokawa, Charles Wuorinen, Johannes Maria Staud and Michael Nyman, to name but a few.

Their SA tour programme will feature Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op. 70 No. 1, Ravel’s Trio in A Minor, and Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 1.
