Gerrit Koorsen studied the cello with Tilla Henkins, Michael Haller and Arend Brink. He has appeared as soloist with the Free State Symphony Orchestra and the Johannesburg Symphony orchestra and has given recitals around the country. Gerrit has a keen interest in chamber music and has had the oppurtunity to perform with some of the country’s finest musicians. In Gauteng, he regularly performs with soprano Michelle Veenemans and pianist Paul Ferreira. Gerrit also performs with jazz musicians. As a trained biochemist, Gerrit is interested in the link between music and science and is currently exploring DNA as a template for musical information.
