Annalie Herbst obtained her B.A. (H.E.D) degree in 1992 from the University of Pretoria majoring in English, Afrikaans and Psychology. She sang in the Tukkie Choir and the Northern Transvaal Youth Choir, touring Europe twice. She took singing lessons from Hanna van Niekerk as a student.
She taught English for grade 6 for seven years in Pretoria. During this time she learned contemporary style music from Lisbé Visser. After her first child was born she again started with voice training with Louis Botha (Opera School, Pretoria Technichon) and later with Werner Nel (University of Potchefstroom). After moving to Durbanville she continued lessons with Saritha Stern (Cape Town College of Music). She has been studying with Magdaleen Oosthuizen for the past three years at the University of Stellenbosch and has performed at several local venues and on special occasions.
