Anina Wassermann commenced her vocal studies at the Opera Department of the Tshwane University of Technology.  She received various awards (Morrison Bursary, Pretorium Trust, and Friends of the Opera Award) and graduating Cum Laude, won the Council’s Medal award for the best student in the faculty of Performing Arts.  During her 2nd year of study she made her professional debut, and subsequently established herself as a favourite with audiences in opera, operetta, concert & oratorio.  Her interpretation of Violetta (La Traviata) and Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor) was nominated twice as one of the 10 Best Musical Events of the year (Gauteng).  She attended master classes with Renata Scotto, Franca Mattiuzzi and Luciana Serra (Italy); Anina was also accepted by Carlo Bergonzi to attend the Academia Verdiana in Busetto (Italy). 

Most recently she was heard in the Salon Music “Spring Gala Concert” (Gauteng) and the “Deutsches Requiem” (Brahms) with Con Spirito Philharmonic, Cape Town. This performance was a South African premiere of the original piano version of the work, with Nina Schumann and Luis Magalhães.   Anina participated in the 5th Nederburg Chamber Music Concert series, “Gypsy Life” and repeated the Dvorak Song Cycle at La Motte Estate, Franschoek.   During June 2009 she will attend a specialist vocal course in Italy with Luciana Serra, world-renowned coloratura soprano.
