Andria Meyer has a passion for singing. In Junior School she joined her School Choir and made it known that when she finished school she would like to be an opera singer. At age nine she began voice training with Yvette Elliott and has progressed steadily towards her dream. She has obtained distinctions for her singing exams over the years and is at present studying for her Grade Seven examination with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music as an eighth subject for her matriculation this year.

Andria is a regular participant in the National Eisteddfod and other music festivals. In 2006 after obtaining a first place in the Classical Singing section she was a finalist for the National Eisteddfod Academy Awards and is a participant again in 2007. As a soloist she has participated in school musicals and concerts, church functions, weddings and she entertains at retirement villages.

She was selected to sing with the Randburg Orchestra in 2006 for their Youth Concert and has twice sung in Christmas Concerts with the Johannesburg Symphony Choir, under the direction of Richard Cock. She also had the leading role of Polly in The Soccer Opera an adaptation of The Beggars Opera by Benjamin Britten under the direction of Tim Roberts (2006).

As regards to repertoire, Andria's songs include a few Opera arias, songs from Musicals, German Lieder, English Art songs, Religious songs and a few light contemporary items. She is continuously adding to her repertoire and is eagerly starting to learn arias from major works.

After matriculating, Andria will apply to continue her singing career at a local University or Technikon.
