JS Bach – Cantata BWV 147 (Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben)
Handel – Messiah (Christmas excerpts)
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is the English title of the 10th movement of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147 composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Today, it is often performed at wedding ceremonies slowly and reverently, in defiance of the effect suggested by Bach in his original scoring for voices with trumpet, oboes, strings, and continuo. This chorale movement is one of Bach's most enduring works. Source: Wikipedia
Messiah, is a famous English oratorio composed by George Frideric Handel based on a libretto written by Charles Jennens. Jennen's libretto is made from quotations from the King James and Great Bible versions of the Christian Bible and interpreted the Christian doctrine of the Messiah. In 1789, nearly 40 years after Handel's death, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's famous arrangement and translation into German premiered in Vienna. Messiah is Handel's most famous creation and is one the most popular and respected works in Western choral literature. Comprised of three parts, Messiah includes the popular movement "Hallelujah!" which is famous in its own right. Source: Wikipedia
