Peter and the Wolf
Peter and the Wolf by composer Sergei Prokofiev is the symphonic tale about a boy catching a big bad wolf. It was intended to introduce children to classical music and musical instruments and has become one of the great classical pieces in orchestral repertoire. The Impossibly Wonderful Theatre Company for Children recreated the symphonic into a dramatised tale. Music still forms an integral part of the story telling so that all characters can be recognised by their individual themes. The flute and double bass are utilised for the live impersonations on stage whilst background music completes the full musical effect. Buchanan Marais and Chris Harper believe that art, fun and education will win the hearts and minds of children and cultivate a fine sense of culture. This production is suitable for pre-school children up to and including Grade 5.
