Italian classical guitarist Cinzia Milani, heralded globally for her graceful musicianship and expressive technique, is touring South Africa the first two weeks in August.
During this return visit Milani will pay tribute to the famous French guitarist and composer Ida Presti (born Yvette Montagnon), who, in later years, performed with her husband and guitarist Alexandre Lagoya as the formidable Presti-Lagoya Duo. Presti & Lagoya, brought out by impresario Hans Adler, toured Southern Africa in 1964.
Milani kicks off her two-date Gauteng itinerary with a recital at Glenshiel Manor in Westcliff, Johannesburg, on Sunday, 5 August 2018 @ 16:00. She will wrap up with a flourish on Sunday, 12 August 2018 at the Miriam Makeba Hall, Unisa Main Campus, Muckleneuk in Pretoria @ 16:00.
Often described in the international music press as one of the best young classical guitarists of her generation, Milani after Johannesburg, will travel to the Eastern Cape. Celebrating Woman’s Day she will perform in Makhanda (Grahamstown) at the St Andrew’s College Chapel on Thursday, 09 August 2018 @ 19:30 before heading to Port Alfred’s Richmond House Museum and Music Room on Friday, 10 August 2018 @ 17:45 with optional dinner, continuing the celebrations.
On Sunday 12 August 2018 @ 16:00 Milani is back in Gauteng for her recital at Unisa. Tickets are sold at the door.
Western Cape audiences will have an opportunity to experience Milani’s talent in exclusive one-off recitals at Hugo Lambrechts in Parow on Tuesday 14 August 2018 @ 18:00 and at Wahnfried in McGregor on Thursday 16 August 2018 @ 18:00.
