Gold for S&B Piano Duo

Eleonora Spina and Michele Benignetti – S&B Piano Duo – proudly announce that their latest CD recording “Lifetime” for Sheva Collection, has been crowned with gold.

The S&B Piano Duo received the Gold Medal as Best Album and Best Emerging Artists at the Global Music Awards 2017 in USA. The Global Music Awards are considered one of the most important prizes in discography.

Notably, with this recording, some extraordinary works composed by Samuel Barber; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Sergei Rachmaninov during their lifetime, are brought into the spotlight.

Suite Op. 28 – “Souvenirs” by Barber focuses on six lively dance forms depicting a cherished memory which the composer associated with New York.

The Fantasia in F minor, K. 608 is one of Mozart’s final works, completed just nine months before he died. “Even though the work was originally conceived for a mechanical device, the music is nuanced – Mozart crafted the Fantasia into a sophisticated work, incorporating complex counterpoint while maintaining a deep emotional and harmonic poignancy.” [1]

Rachmaninov dedicated the Fantaisie-Tableaux Op. 5 to Pyotr Tchaikovsky whom he deeply admired. The fantasy is based on “musical pictures” and the four movements captured in the first of two two-piano fantasies are Barcarolle; La nuit…l’amour; Les larmes; and Pâques.
